Welcome to Afrikan ConneXions Consortium!
Afrikan Connexions Consortium was formed in July 2016 supported by the Global Afrikan People’s Parliament (GAPP) following a conference called by Afrikan led organisations that represented various constituencies of Afrikan Heritage People. The conference was organised following the election of Marvin Rees as Mayor in Bristol UK in May 2016 and sought to engage him and other elected officials on the mayoral aspiration to lead a power sharing city.
The conference was entitled ‘Bristol: A Power-Sharing City Inclusive of Substantive Afrikan Heritage Community Representation?’ A proposal was made and accepted in the conference that Bristol should form the Afrikan ConneXions Consortium (ACC) as a means to influence the political landscape in Bristol to ensure the voices of Afrikan Heritage People and substantive representation of our needs and interests are included in the city’s policies, plans and strategies and key decision- making areas.
Over the years ACC has evolved from having organisations as the core team. It now operates as a lobbying and influencing structure with a leadership team that cultivates key relationships and affiliations borne out of its core strategic purpose of substantive representation of Afrikan Heritage Community voices and participation within the city in pursuit of fulfilling our contribution to global Afrikan reparatory justice through the building and implementation of the Bristol Pempamsie Reparations Plan (B- PReP), of which Zenzele Village is a major part.
